PROJECT OVERVIEW
In 2017, Maddie moved to Montana and fell in love with the outdoors. Among the mountains, streams, and open skies, she discovered fly fishing, a passion that connects her to nature, to family, and to the life she’s built.
This short film follows Maddie’s journey into the world of fly fishing. Inspired by her father and drawn to Montana’s wild beauty, she began casting lines in different rivers and lakes, learning patience, rhythm, and the joy of being on the water. One of her most cherished memories came when she caught a fish with her baby daughter sleeping against her chest, a moment that brought together family, nature, and the outdoors in a way she’ll never forget.
Through Maddie’s story, we see that fly fishing is more than a hobby, it’s a way of living close to the land, embracing tradition, and finding joy in every cast.

PROJECT STORY AND CREDITS
PlanetXplorer first began in 2018 when I traveled to Montana to film several fly fishing commercials with Maddie. Between shoots I captured a few moments that became the very first PlanetXplorer video. It was short and left people wanting more, but it marked the start of something bigger.
After a long pause during COVID, the journey continues. This new film returns to Maddie’s story with more time on the water, beautiful Montana landscapes, and her own voice sharing how fly fishing has shaped her life. From fishing with her dad in Minnesota to raising her daughter in Montana, this film explores her passion for the outdoors in a more complete way.
